"The Nutcracker" is one of the most recognisable classical ballets in the world, set to the music of Pyotr Tchaikovsky. The story of a magical Christmas Eve, of toys coming to life and of good against evil has delighted audiences for generations with its poetry and its beauty.
Our production combines classical choreography with modern staging, creating an unforgettable show full of emotion, grace and professional craft.

The history of the ballet
"The Nutcracker" was first staged in 1892 in St Petersburg. The choreography by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov, set to Tchaikovsky's music, quickly took its place as a masterpiece of ballet and remains one of the most frequently staged productions in the world.
What is "The Nutcracker" about?
The story takes place on Christmas Eve in the home of young Clara. She is given a wooden nutcracker as a present; at night it comes to life and takes her on a magical journey to the Land of Sweets. In that fairy-tale world Clara witnesses the brave Nutcracker's battle with the Mouse King, meets the Sugar Plum Fairy and takes part in spectacular dances representing sweets from around the world.
It is a story about children's dreams, about courage and about believing in magic, and it has delighted audiences of every age for more than 130 years. Tchaikovsky's music – with the famous "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" and the "Waltz of the Flowers" – is recognised the world over today and is inseparable from the atmosphere of Christmas.
In our version we combine respect for the classical choreography with elements of our own, creating a production that pays tribute to the ballet tradition while remaining fresh and engaging for a contemporary audience.
